The subunits of hemoglobin are arranged in a tetrahedral array with a tight spehiracl overall appearance and each individual polypeptide is folded in such a manner to maximize POLAR residues being on the exposed surface and NONPOLAR intrracinte being internal, making this large protein water soluble.
Hemoglobin consist of 2 subunits, a and b differing in length of the polypeptide chain. The arrangement of polypeptide is made in such a manner so that POLAR residues present are exposed on outer surface so that it can dissolve in water as water is also polar . And NONPOLAR residues are kept inside so that it can cannot affect the solubility of protein in water.
