Proposition 63: Should Other States Follow California’s Lead?
We can see that Proposition 63 provides a lot of benefits for carers that are not able to care for their families due to medical bills, proposition 63 provides them with a relief.
This is a good system which has a lot of benefits but, when we consider its implementation in other states, it might not be as successful as it is in California.
This is because first of all, targeting a part of the population for taxing purposes to supplement a system might not be well received by the population. Also, since California's income distribution has variations form the income levels of the other states, we can argue about the actual benefits that the system can guarantee for the people. Locking into a specific process for the budget may not be the best utilization of taxing resources and therefore, in order to successfully implement proposition 63, to help with the mental state of being of individuals. California arguably has a larger number of cases of mental health issues and therefore, this system is best implemented in this case.
We can implement the system in other states but we cannot guarantee the same interest, level of approach and the ability to be successful in the other states as much as it is in California.
