The factors important in choosing a retail site would be :

  • The demographics : the people who are surrounding the retail site. The age, income level of the people for whom the product is targeted should be evaluated and accordingly the retail site should be chosen. Like hoe far do people have to travel to reach the retail location, what is the income of the people in the location chosen as the retail site.
  • The competition surrounding the area of the retails site. Bad competitors are those that will have a negative effect on your business. Some competitors may be offering a similar product at a discount which may hinder the business.
  • The factors like what is the access to transportation and the availability of parking space should also be considered.

Factors important in choosing a manufacturing site is :

  • The availability of raw materials , the raw materials should be available at cheap prices and in maximum output and there should be easy availability of the raw materials at the location of the manufacturing plant.
  • The workforce available at the site should be skilled.
  • there should be good infrastructural facilities
  • The site should be closed to the source providing raw materials.

the factors like availability of parking space and demographics of the population is not vital fro a manufacturing site as they carry out manufacturing activities which they sell to the retailers and not to the end users which are the customers.

the availability of raw materials and work force availability is not a factor for retail site as they target the end users which are the customers.
