Jasmeesa is performing a blood typing lab. She takes her own blood sample and mixes I with different antibodies. her blood agglutinates when mixed with anti b bodies but doesn't not agglutinate with anti a or anti-rH antibodies. determine her blood type and explain how you got it.
ANSWER- blood type is B NEGATIVE
EXPLANATION-
Agglutination is the process that occurs when an antigen is mixed with its corresponding antibody.
In simpler terms, agglutination occurs if the antigens in the patients body match the antibodies in the test tube. A antibodies attach to A antigens and they match and form lock and key and thus a clump of red blood cells are formed.
Type B blood group agglutinates with anti B antibodies.
Type AB agglutinate with both A and B antibodies as it has both A and B antigens on their RBC surface.
Type O does not agglutinate with any antibodies of A nor B as type O blood group does not have A or B antigens on its surface.
Rh factor- If a blood type is Rh factor positive, It agglutinates with anti Rh factor antibodies, and if the person is Rh negative, their blood does not aggulutunate.
so, Jasmeesa blood agglutinates with anti body B so, her blood has antigens B and thus her blood type is B.
Her blood does not aggulutinate with anti Rh antibodies, so her blood does not contain any Rh antigens so, she is a Rh negative blood type.
