Healthcare Compliance is the process to follow set of the guidelines which are in the form of rules and regulation related to the healthcare practices such as patient related information, patient safety, patient related billing. These procedures are used to define the correct conduct, training the staff and monitoring the actual process followed versus the defined process.
The role of the of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) is more in investigative in nature and in the compliance process, is to audit the operation and find the case of any type of misconduct, fraud or any type of abuse related to government related process. Also, examines all the actions performed by the military organizations and government-based agencies. They perform audit and investigations independently to ensure if any wrongdoing is reported out, or the current process is compliant with respect to the general policies and law. The audit performed by the OIG focus more on the security related process, any misuse of the agency funds, criminal activities, fraud, waste, misconduct etc.
