Answer- Labour and monopoly: the degradation of work in the twentieth century is a famous book published in 1974. This book was written by Harry Braverman in terms of economics and sociology of work under capitalism. The thinkers whose work was analyzed in this book were Karl Marx, Charles Babbage, Vladimir Lenin, Frank Gilbreth, F.W. Taylor etc. This book also explain different factors of sociology in terms of capitalism. The main topics which are covered by Harry Braverman are labour and its power, origin of management, scientific management and its effects and labour division, the acclimatization of the worker to the capital mode of production.
Herman Braverman discussed about the degradation in the twentieth century. According to him, human being always use the facilities of nature in a meaningful way. All humans work to spend their lives in a purposeful way. In today's society, people work in organizations which has removed the concept of simple production of one's own use. Modern technology has completely changed the production processes. Workers in today's society are based on machinery. They have mastery over machinary. Most of the production work in today's society has become automatic and less time consuming. Today, there are lot of people which are working in highly paid organization but there are few also who are still not employed. In older times, everybody was busy in his own production with different occupations but today it has completely changed which somewhere leads to the decline in twentieth century.
