Performance metrics mainly consist of measuring criteria these are the criterias that you measure and analyse and upon analysis you check whether it fits the set of range of your requirement. Here in this case for caravan for retired couples we need to sort out the measuring criterios and their range using knowledge of engineering and mathematics -

Define Objective -

Retired couple may be using caravan to go out for couple of month tour and reliability is big issue and cost could be on the higher side. Here we got 1st criterio i.e cost now since you would be researching so search for typical costs and set it on higher side.

They do not need something of higher acceleration because they are old and power should be less hence we can go for low acceleration caravan.

They do not need a lot of luxury but do need a little bit so size should be mediocre not too big not too small.

Since they are couples so we need double bed inside it.

Energy source how much energy they need. Since they might not be having too much electric equipment so we can use small size solar panel.

Ventilation Since they are old we need good quality ventilation and AC installed in caravan.

Supply We do not need too much supply but need enough for them to sustain.

So basically you need to analyse there demands and come up with explanation for points in performace matrix.
