Natural gas is often praised as a clean energy alternative. It burns more cleanly than other fossil fuels, emitting lower levels of harmful emissions such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrous oxides. It produces less greenhouse gases than other fossil fuels do.
Many environmentalists view natural gas as a natural bridge fuel between the dominant fossil fuels of today and the renewable fuels of tomorrow. For a given amount of heat energy, burning natural gas produces about half as much carbon dioxide, the main cause of global warming, as burning coal. It is becoming popular as a source of power generation. It is cleaner as compared to coal and electricity. It produces less greenhouse gases, thus causing less pollution and reducing the risk of global warming.
It is available in abundance as compared to coal or oil. Most oil economists put the Natural gas reserves at least 50% higher than Oil reserves at the current consumption rates. At present Natural gas reserves are estimated to last in excess of 60 yrs whereas Oil reserves are estimated at 40 odd years. It is more economical as compared to coal and oil
To conclude we can say that in the coming years natural gas will become the game changer and will become major international commodity.
