Given funds and available land sufficient to protect a given quantity of land (10,000 ha for example), how would you decide the best size, shape, and configuration of areas to protect? Explain.
As we know that the land is use very rapidly that’s why we need to plan the land on the basis of the shape and size of the land. We can plan the land on the basis of the following guidelines for the evaluation of the potential impact on our natural systems.
Evaluate the local persistence of the species and surrounding environment on the basis of habitats which is interspersed across the landscape. The local environmental and land alterations may have broad-scale regional impacts.
Evaluation of the land on the basis of long term changes like nutrients cycling, energy flow pattern and also other ecosystem changes over a period of time.
Avoid the land which depletes natural resources. Depletion of natural resources will lead to the irreversible disruption of ecosystems and associated processes of that ecosystem.
Evaluate the land that has connected areas which contain critical habitats.
Evaluate the land by Minimizing the introduction and spread of non-native species. The spread of non-natives is facilitated by the development of transportation and by the creation of artificial landscapes.
The evaluation of the above points provide the better results for the use of the land.
