Network for Business Sustainability (NBS)based in Ontario, Canada, is made up international academic experts and business leaders to use knowledge to bridge the communities of research and industry to improve business sustainability.
-Operational Optimization is designed to help power generators
tackle operational issues, meet business demand, align people and
systems and reach true plant capacity while still reducing cost and
downtime. It is characterized by the approach Eco-Efficiency and
objective is compliance and efficiency or doing the same things
better. This enables a consistent view of
0perations, allowing better and faster decision making.
-Organizational Transformation is characterized by the approach
of creating New Market Opportunities by transformation
planning and organizational change. Transformation planning is a
process of developing a plan for modifying an enterprises
business processes through the modification of policies,
procedures, processes and innovate objective is to create a
novel
product, etc, services or business models or it's about doing good
by doing new things. New models of innovation are emerging such as
frugal innovation,resource-constrained innovation, reverse
innovation, jugaad innovation. Organization change is assessing the
past, comparing it to the present and determining the ideal future
state from the current business state and transformation is not
about doing it better, it's about redefining how it's done.
-System Building is about the conscious creation of Societal
Change. Its innovation objective is about creating novel products,
services or business models that are impossible to achieve alone
but need to a collaboration of several actors. It's about doing
good by doing new things with others.this kind of innovation will
certainly be radical and carry high levels of complexity and
uncertainty.
As an example, we can look into the Philips Sustainable Innovation
exploration journey during the period 2006-2011 finally resulting
in Philips new Vision launch in early 2012. At Philips, we strive
to make the world healthier and more sustainable through Innovation
and their goal is to improve the lives of 3 billion people
by2025.
