the probability of getting a single pair in a poker hand of 5 cards is approximately .42. Find the approximate probability that out of 1000 poker hands there will be at least 450 with a single pair.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:

Given that:

The probability of getting a single pair in a poker hand of 5 cards is approximately 0.42.

Here p is called probability of getting single pair in a poker hand of 5 cards

Let X be the no. of poker hand and of 1000 it will be a single pair

Each hand drawn it will come two outcomes

i) Single pair is received as success

ii) Single pair is not received it considered as failure

Also each hand drawn is independent of the other drawn hands of poker

X Binomial(n=100,p=0.41)

As the sample size is large, we can approximate the Binomial distribution by normal distribution using CLT

The probability that there will be atleast 450 poker hands out of 1000 with a single pair is
