In: Chemistry
using three enzymatic steps propose a pathway for the conversion of alpha ketoglutartate to 2-oxoadipate. Draw the missing intermediates and indicate the chemistry involved in each reaction. Include any cofactors that might be required.
ANS.
First step :-
The Alpha Keto gluterate is converted into Alpha Keto adipate by the enzyme Homo citrate dehydrogenase enzyme.
Second step :
The alpha ketoadipate is converted to Alpha hydroxyadipate by the enzyme 2 Keto adipate reductase by converting NADH into NAD redox potential.
Third Step :-
This alpha hydroxy adipate undergoes dehydrogenation to form Hexa 2 enedioate by using enzyme Alpha hydroxy adipate dehydratase by removal of H2O.
Fourth Step :-
This Hexa 2 enedioate undergoes Oxidation reaction to form 2 Oxoadipate by using NADH redox potential by enzyme Oxidoreductase leaving NAD+.
