In the land of free trade, does the public view all industries as equal?
Do you believe that some industries are unfairly targeted?
Ans: - In this era of globalization and in the land of free trades I believe people do not view all the industries equally. For example, liquor industries, tobacco industries, especially in a conventional society like in Asian countries and there is nothing wrong or unethical about it because these products directly or indirectly cause harmful diseases to the public.
And if anyone is raising voice against it that does not mean that these industries are unfairly targeted because if any industry is manufacturing a product without giving proper information that is causing harm to the general public then they have every right to raise their voice against that industry. These products are harmful to the consumers who are consuming it and also who are not consuming it for example proxy smoking is also as harmful as smoking. Therefore it the primary responsibility of the company that is manufacturing these products that are harmful should tell the consumers about their harmful side effects through proper labeling on the products and mentioning the ingredients used in it.
There are some food and beverages companies that do not fairly mention the type of ingredients that are used in their products which is not just immoral but crime also because consumers should know before consuming what the damages that can cause by consuming these products. Therefore it is the responsibility of the companies to tell the customers about their products what they are selling and what are the dark sides of consuming it and after that, if someone is consuming such products that the responsibility is on the consumers who are consuming it not on the company and in that case no one can blame the company.
