The Cost of Natural Resources The high cost of oil in the Global South continues to have a detrimental effect on its population. What are the primary natural resources that are used in your state? If this natural resource became unavailable, how would that affect the state’s economy? How does the harvesting or collecting of this natural resource affect the natural environment?
Review the posts of your classmates and respond to at least one other post discussing how the natural resource they chose to write about would influence your community.
1. Generally, environmental impacts include primary and secondary. Primary impacts include the immediate impacts after extraction to the site and secondary impacts occur due to deforestation, loss of biodiversity, etc.,
2. Companies, Communities, Agencies of government should reduce the secondary impacts as far as possible if they know that environmental sensitivities occur there at the point of extraction.
3. Large companies will impact more on the environment both primarily and secondarily as mentioned above and their reputation inclines with the reduction of damage to the environment and this is a major challenge to them.
4. In order to reduce secondary impacts, REDD+ activities are being implemented so that there could be ecological balance in the environment.
5. Making out links between industrial activities and health of ecosystems is a way to implement an approach called Integrated landscapes management approach.
