Provide evidence to substantiate the hypothesis that eukaryotic cells evolved from prokaryotic cells in three sentences or less
Prokaryotic cells are simple cells and do not have membrane bound organelles. These cells are evolved from protobionts. They are the oldest form of life on earth. They are always single celled because they do not have structural elements, which permit them to change their shapes. On the other hand eukaryotic cells are complex cells with membrane-bound organelles and a nucleus. They have structural elements, which permit them to change shape. They can either be unicellular or multicellular. The theory of endosymbiosis said that eukaryotes are evolved from prokaryotes.
The theory of endosymbiosis described that the organelles of eukaryotes were originated as a symbiosis between separate unicellular organisms. The basal elements of DNA in both eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells is the same base nucleotides. As per the theory, mitochondria and plastids in eukaryotic cells were once independent prokaryotic cells and were taken inside by another cell as an endosymbiont.
