  2. It spreads by drinking water containing guinea worm larvae.people get infected by drinking water from ponds and stagnent pools containing water fleas that carry guinea worm larvae.
  3. This disease effects the communities that donot have safe drinking water.
  4. GWD is the first parasitic disease slated to be erradicaed almost.
  5. No drugs and vaccines are available to treat GWD .only treatment is to wrap the worm to a stick slowly day by day . or by a surgeon when blister forms.
  6. Global eradication of GWD began in 1980 .It includes a group of national and internationalpartners to support the eradication of GWD.
