What is hypothesis testing? Give an example to support your answer

Hypothesis testing is one of the methods in which the statistician would be testing a theory that he had formulated, based on assumptions or observations, on the parameter of a population. Depending on the data, the method to confirm the analysis will be determined. Hypothesis testing identifies the hypothesis result on a small scale population and then applies it on the larger scale. Example: the quality control of a batch of antibiotics, with a significant level identification, which is then applied to the entire set, which decides if the batch should be accepted or not.

Explain why we perform literature review?

Literature review is important since it helps in summarising all the research that has been done in the field, till now, along with identification of any strengths or weaknesses present in the past work, such that it would allow the current researcher to remove the weaknesses that the previous researchers had.

Answer using R Studio Here we consider the amount of data needed to perform hypothesis testing. Suppose we are testing a coin using observations of tosses. We wish to test H0: p = 0.5 against an alternative of HA : p = 0.6 (in this question use one-sided tests only). How many tosses are needed to guarantee a size Æ∑ 0.05 and Ø∑ 0.2? Now generalize to consider HA : p = 0.5+delta. Choose sensible values for delta and quantify...
