Your patient, who has idiopathic scoliosis with a normal body mass index at the age of 16, has 16 degrees of right thoracic spinning. When choosing the exercises, do not create the program so that the individual can realistically implement it, and do not recommend exercises that include excessive repetition or the same muscle group.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Scoliosis is a 3-dimensional deformity of the spine and trunk. Scoliosis is a complex deformity which is associated with lateral curvature in the coronal plane and vertebral column along the longitudinal axis as well as a lordotic deformity in the sagittal plane.

This condition can be managed with exercise, medical interventions, and scoliosis-specific physical therapy. Core exercises are the best exercises for scoliosis because core muscles support the spine.

Recommended Exercises

Step down and one-arm reach

  • A leg is placed on step.
  • The opposite leg is lowered as like bending the knees.
  • The arm is raised on the same side, and lower leg is kept as high as possible.
  • About 2 to 3 sets of 5 to 10 reps on this side are performed.

Upward and downward dog

  • In a prone plank position with arms are stretched out straight, hips are pushed back and up as far as possible.
  • It is held for 2 seconds, and then hips are lowered back down toward the floor.
  • As low as possible movement can be made without giving back discomfort or pain.
  • 2 to 3 sets of 5 to 10 reps can be done.

Split stance with arm reach

  • Step is forwarded with the longer leg in front in a slightly exaggerated stride length.
  • The torso is kept upright as possible at all times.
  • The forward knee is allowed to bend.
  • The arm is raised in the opposite of your leg as high as possible to the sky.
  • The other arm is approached back to the other arm back with the palm up as much as possible.
  • About 2 to 3 sets of 5 to 10 reps can be performed.

Suppose body mass index (BMI) varies approximately to the normal distribution in a population of boys aged 2-20. B) What is the z-score corresponding to finding a boy with at least a BMI 18.25? C) What is the probability of finding a boy with at least this BMI, 18.25?

Body mass index (BMI) is a reliable indicator of body fat for most children and teens. BMI is calculated from a child’s weight and height and is used as an easy-to-perform method of screening for weight categories that may lead to health problems. For children and teens, BMI is age- and sex-specific and is often referred to as BMI-for-age. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports BMI-for-age growth charts for girls as well as boys to obtain a...
