You are asked to draft a sustainability plan for for your community. Identify and describe five main challenges which you would aim to tackle in this plan, focusing mainly on energy issues and their tangents, in order of importance, and why.
Sustainable plans means that plans that are made for the present time without considering future time. Five main challenges which I would aim to tackle in this plan are:
(i) Change in climate: Human activities like deforestation etc. are constantly changing the climate that result in the harmful effect in the environment like greenhouse effect.
(ii) Consumption of energy: This is the main challenge that one would have to face.
(iii) Production of waste: Increase in the non-biodegradable waste like plastics is continuously increasing in the environment and industries pollutants in large scale increases the rate of waste production.
(iv) Natural resources management: Since natural resources are used for economic growth now-a-days, that lead to harmful effect in the environment.
(v) Poverty: Plans of today are increasing the poverty as decreasing sources of energy like electricity requirement in agriculture is depleting, that rise to increase in the poverty.
Consumption of energy
Consumption of energy is having the correlation with social, economic and environmental developments. Energy sources are very much responsible for the individual standard of living i.e social development. Electricity, water demand is increasing day by day. Hence, practices related to waste of energy sources should be replaced with energy saving methods.
Energy include an important factor in upgrading the life style of person and thus increasing the life standard of a person and decreasing poverty. Energy uses is also related with economic development. Use of renewable energy should be preferred in place of non- renewable sources of energy. Technology development should be done in a direction so that environmental waste should be destroyed without harming the environment.
