Which primate would be the best for medical studies of drugs to be used on humans? Why? Does this mean that primates should be used more extensively as subjects for drug testing?
Ans.
1. Monkey a non-human primate is the best for medical studies of drugs to be used on humans.
2. Across the world, the monkey is used for medical research purposes because the physiology of monkeys is almost the same as humans. Their brian shares structural and functional features with humans, Which make easier for the medical research to detect how human will get affected by this treatment.
3. Monkey just resembles humans it doesn't mean that we use them as experimental material. Monkeys also feel the same experience the emotion as humans. They have complex social relationships as well. And If we are saying that they also experience emotions like a human then why to hurt them?
There is no question they also feel the pain and stress due to getting captured and housed into the cage. Their use for medical research is a reduction in wild breeding colonies which is not good for nature balance. They also need protection and safety as humans it's their right.
