Wood light examination = Wood light examination is developed by Robert wood so it is called wood light examination. It is mainly done for skin disorder or fungal infection .

The light also used for corneal abrasion on the surface of the eye.

Through this light a ultraviolet light can be used to determine skin or fungal infection .

* Nursing responsibilities before the wood light examination =

- Explain the complete procedure to the patient.

- Provide the psychological support to the patient .

- Have the client in comfort position.

- Tell the patient about room , because it will be fully dark and all light would be switched off.

- Advise the patient to wash the face before examination.

- Cover the patient eye to avoid any risk to the cornea.

- Advise the patient to avoid any cream on the face before the procedure.

* Nursing responsibilities after the wood lamp examination =

- Determine the complication associated with wood light examination such as wrong interpretation and in case of eye problem .

- Detect the eye injury with fluroescein .

- Detect the color of the urine and presence of porphyrin in the urine.

- Ask the patient to feel any discomfort after procedure.

- Determine the any infection after the procedure .

- Tell patient to take proper medicine .
