5. Name a form of radiation that has a long wavelength.
Answer : Radio Waves (they have longest wavelengths and lowest frequency ,and are used to transmit information from the antenna of a broadcasting station to the antenna of your radio or TV)

Answer : Gamma (It has the shortest wavelength because it has a higher frequency, meaning more waves in a second than any other radiation, which results in the short wavelength.)
7. Why do leaves appear green?
Answer : Green plants are green because they contain a pigment called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs certain wavelengths of light within the visible light spectrum. Green light is not absorbed but reflected, making the plant appear green. Chlorophyll is found in the chloroplasts of plants.
8. Describe Englemann’s experiment with bacteria, algae and light.
Answer : Engelmann passed white light through a prism and exposed a filament of alga to the different wavelengths of the visible light spectrum. He placed aerobic bacteria with the alga to determine which segments of the alga were performing the most photosynthesis and thus releasing the most oxygen.
9. Describe how a solution of chlorophyll will fluoresce.
Answer : Chlorophyll fluorescence is light re-emitted by chlorophyll molecules during return from excited to non-excited states. Excited chlorophyll dissipates the absorbed light energy by driving photosynthesis, as heat in non-photochemical quenching or by emission as fluorescence radiation.
10. Describe the difference between photosystem I and photosystem II.
Answer : Photosystem I is located on the outer surface of the thylakoid membrane and is bind to the special reaction center known as P700, whereas PS II is located on the inner surface of the thylakoid membrane and the reaction center is known as P680.
11. Where does the oxygen by-product that is produced during photosynthesis come from?
Answer :The oxygen is released from water in the light-dependent reactions. The oxygen in carbon dioxide is incorporated in the sugars produced by the light-independent reactions.
12. Describe what happens during chemiosmosis.
Answer : During chemiosmosis, the free energy from the series of reactions that make up the electron transport chain is used to pump hydrogen ions across the membrane, establishing an electrochemical gradient. ... The production of ATP using the process of chemiosmosis in mitochondria is called oxidative phosphorylation.
