The ability to work with others and collaborate in teams is an important skill in the world today. It is likely that, as a business professional, you will be called upon to work as a valuable member in an onsite or virtual team. The course project provides a practice environment in which you can build your collaborative and leadership skills.

What experience (if any) have you had in working as part of a team?

What aspects of the experience were positive?

What experience (if any) have you had in working as part of a team?

I have worked on projects along with cross functional teams. These teams comprised of members from different levels, some above you, some at par and some below you. In these projects, learning was immense while working with people from different backgrounds and different depth and breadth of knowledge across each function.

What aspects of the experience were positive?

Aspects that were positive are:

1. Immense learning from people from different knowledge and diverse background.
2. Management was easier at times when each of them takes ownership and wants to complete them to meet organization goals.
3. Accountability was more since everybody worked on their area of strength.

What aspects of the experience were negative?

Aspects that were negative are:

1. People have their own priorities, hence deadlines used to keep extending.
2. Management was difficult during critical times when this project was not a part of people's KPI.
3. Driving is a bit tough, since availability on proper time if difficult.
4. Getting approval for money is difficult, since you need to get approval from different group managers.

What tips or best practices from your experience or from your readings can you offer that you believe can be used to make the team experience in this course a positive one?

Some best practices could be:

1. Assign work as per ones strength.
2. Every work should have a value attached to it, for motivating every member.
3. Let others know that the team is working on something. Visibility is must.
