–Use analysis and synthesis to compare the “secularization hypothesis” and the “religious transformation hypothesis”
Analysis is looking at a whole and breaking it into different part in order to understand a structure, whereas, Synthesis is joining the parts of something together and look at it as a whole to understand a structure.
Secularization thesis proposes that when a society progresses through time, religions will lose their significance and this is seen well in the world history. For example, Christianity was very strong and powerful as it was even dictating the kings and threatening people with sin and death. Over a period of time kings broke out of the Church’s oppression and today, very few people are religious and attend church and its services regularly.
Religious Transformation Hypothesis states that there may be few changes that might affect or reduce the functions of religions but nothing can wipe out religion entirely. That’s why people still gather for celebrations such as, Christmas, Easter etc.
Analysis – break
Synthesis - join
