Mc Millan's argument for 'The logic of stupid poor people 'is that it is not fair to assume that one can comprehend the logic of a community when one knows nothing about the it.She says that it is not logical to explain to a community that their way of survival is wrong when one knows nothing about what they are facing. Cottam asserts that it is improper to judge the logic of a community on the basis of certain experiences that one has not experienced himself.By saying that 'nothing is more logical than trying to survive 'Cottom narrates her family history which is a story of survival. She had observed prejudice being practised Her arguments are based on her personal experiences of being raised by back women who know how the black as individuals are treated. She states that the value of a person is determined by her looks and material possession and she states"What is the retail value of a school principal who defers a bit more to your child because your mother's presentation of self signals that she might unleash the bureaucratic savvy of middle class parents to advocate for her child?"Due to the discrimination based on appearance Cottam asserts that unless people live in poverty , they will not understand how material things affect the living of poor people. She says that her state is "living proof of its investment yield."So she asserts that the "not poor" people should stop assuming what it is like to be poor by saying "you have no idea what you would do if you were poor until you were poor."
