SAP system
landscape means the installation of group of systems that
are connected to different routes of transport to main system. This
system may vary as per the process designed in company or business.
Generally, companies that run SAP build the SAP system landscape
which passes through all the system which they have positioned such
as ERP, SCM and so on.
Implementation of SAP system
landscape
The SAP system landscape is
implemented when SAP project takes place in an organization as
there are various levels in which this system encompasses through
different transport routes. The process of the project will flow
from development to production as stated
below:
- Development
system: In this, if there is a need to develop, enhance or
configure the SAP objects then this is the step in which it takes
place. It is where the requirement is completed for any kind of new
modification. They may have more than one client database:
- Sandbox: This
takes the requirement to design the system work
- Customization:
This takes the initiative to customize the system work.
- Unit: This takes
the unit testing of development.
- Testing and Quality
Checks: This is the step where the testing is done with
the help of various users on all possible scenarios of the new
modifications of the SAP objects and then quality will be checked
by the Quality Assurance system.
- Production of New
modifications: In this step after all the testing and
quality checks, the objects will be moved to the production system
and the new modification will be implemented and presented to the
end user.
All the above servers are linked
with the transport system and these servers are divided into
different clients as per the requirement of business.
Importance of running
separate systems
It is very important to run the
system separately when running the SAP project because:
- Out of Sync: The
development system may go out of sync if the system does not run
parallel because the project development team and the support
development team will go by their way without having a concern for
the consideration of their action on the other system.
- Simplifiers the
process: By separating the system the pure number of
instances will get reduced to the few necessary instances and it
will help to get the right job done for the organization. For
example, if anything which is implemented then it must go through
the testing process as well. All the steps simplify the
process.
- Effective usage:
As the SAP system landscape steps is already defined then the
project manager will be in terror that whatever changes they will
make it will affect the whole process.
- Non-overlapping
slots: There is no overlapping in the slot of SAP system
landscape this means that any changes made to the sequential step
then it will lead to the approval process. Without approval no one
will be able to make changes.
