1. We examined Mintzberg's "How Productivity Killed American Enterprise". Can you relate Gracia's "Corporate Short-Term Thinking and The Winner Take All Market" and "Too Much of a Good Thing" to Mintzberg's article?
Mintzberg's article "How productivity killed American Enterprise" can be related to Gracia's "Corporate Short-term thinking and the winner take all market" and "Too much for a good thing" in many ways. Some of the relation are as under:
1. Both of them have tried to explain that how competition ( Between people or organisation) can be harmful for any organisation/industry/economy in long run if focussed mainly on profits rather quality. It can give good results in short term but can be diminishing the quality or other aspects in long run.
2. Both says that how the pressure to perform is increasing and not only to perform but to give results in short term.
3. Both also focussed on increase in difference between pays at different level due to result oriented approach towards work rather than quality. The difference in pay results in change in approach of everyone over a time period.
4. The employees are becoming short term thinker because of their fear to get removed from the post if desired results are not given.
5. Both also gives the view that only long term or only short term approach is not workable. However, balance between the both is needed to remove this problem.
