Learning and memory formation is a combined affect and work of multiple hormones and neurotransmitters. Glucose plays a substantial role in the learning and memory formation process. With the increase in the glucose administration, it leads to increase in the acetylcholine release and hence helps in the process of memory formation. Stress plays a significant role in the formation of the memory and learning. The hormones and neurotransmitters like glucocorticoids and catecholamines are responsible for the process of memory encoding. The adrenal hormones also play an important role in the learning and memory formation process. Glucocorticoids play a major role and helps in enhancing the learning process and formation of memory during stressful conditions.

There are several neurotransmitters like acetylcholine, glutamate, Y-amino butyric acid(GABA) and catecholamines which play a very important role in the formation of memory. There are number of hormones which are involved in the process like the epinephrine hormones as it is released into the blood from the adrenal medulla. Hormones like glucocorticoids play a role in hippocampus and amygdale and corticotropic and epinephrine plays an overall role.
