Sample Calculation:

  1. = s / e

(10,600,000 psi)*1102 = 1.168 x 10^10 lb

E = 10600 ksi = 10,600,000 psi

Solutions

Expert Solution

Now,

At, Strain ( e ) = 1102

Stress () = e * E

= 1102 * 10600000

= 1.16812 * 1010 psi.

[Note: Calculations and steps performed are absolutely correct. But it looks like you have considered too much higher strain value which is really not possible. I think given strain values are associated with 10-6 or 10-7 or so. I would like to request you to re-verify the strain values given (specially check for negative powers of 10). But anyhow I am providing the solution as per the details given.]

Similarly other stress values can be calculated.

Load P1 = 0 lb P2 = 350 lb P3 = 700 lb
Gauge Strain Stress (psi) Strain Stress Strain Stress
1 1102 11681200000 724 7674400000 383 4059800000
2 1876 19885600000 1546 16387600000 1324 14034400000
3 2177 23076200000 2179 23097400000 2181 23118600000
4 876 9285600000 1204 12762400000 1558 16514800000
5 662 7017200000 989 10483400000 1296 13737600000

[ Just for your understandings I am showing one example with practically possible strain value.

If, e = 1102 * 10-6

   = 10600 * 1102 * 10-6

= 11.681 ksi

It looks like above value is in line with the real possible values]

I was wondering if I was doing a conversion right. I am supposed to take aqueous HNO3 with a density of 1.42 g/mL and a mass percent of solution of 70% and convert that into molarity. Would the correct conversion be to take 70 g of HNO3 over 100 g of H2O multiplied by 1 mol HNO3 over 63.01 g HNO3 (the molar mass) and then multiply that by 1 g H2O over 0.001 L of H2O to get the...

(JAVA) I was wondering if anyone can check if I am implementing this method correctly based on the instructions? Here are the instructions: buildShape(String input) In the buildShape() method, you will parse the provided input to determine whether to create a CircleShape or SquareShape. Before you create the shape, you need to determine it's size, location and color. Use TestableRandom to randomly generate an int size ranging from 100-200. Randomly generate an x and y index for its location. X...

I have a question. I am doing revenue report project. I have to write an efficient and effeictive means of testing the control. For payment control, the related assertion is Accuray, and Completeness. Possible test of effectiveness is observe card and cash transaction procedures from start to finish. I can't come up with any other effectivness. Please help me. Thanks.

I am doing a post lab for a acid and base buffers lab. I was asked to find the theoretical pH (what the pH should actually be) for each of my pH's in my data please help it is due tonight and that is the only question I cannot figure out. I just need one of the theoretical pHsd' one and I can do the rest. Background: 30 mL of sodium dihydrogen phosphate and 20 mL k2HPO4 was added to...

I am doing a lab report on Beer's Law. Equation is absorbance= molar extinction coefficient x path length x concentration. In lab, I prepared a stock solution of .25M and filled it up to 100ml. I prepared 3 more diluted solutions. Dilution 1 was .2M where I added 8ml of stock solution and 2 ml of water for total volume of 10ml. Biochemistry: I am doing a lab report on protein quaternary structures using a SDS-PAGE. We used denaturants such as BME and urea to see which proteins were held by disulfide bonds. The proteins that we used were Carbonic anyhydrase (CA), glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GPD), hemoglobin (Hb), and superoxide dismutase (SOD). We had a set that was treated with BME and Urea. The other set was plain. Well, results were just awful. No I do not have the gel results on...
