For the following exercises, given v, draw v, 3v and 1/2 v.
⟨−1, 4⟩
Consider a vector v with the components (-1, 4).
Vector v starts at point (0, 0) and terminates at point (-1, 4).
Use maple to show the graph of vector v.
Multiply each component of vector v by 3 to compute 3v:
3v = {3 × (-1), 3 × 4}
= (-3, 12)
Vector 3v starts at point (0, 0) and terminates at point (-3, 12).
Use maple to show the graph of vector 3v.
Multiply each component of vector v by 1/2 to compute ½v.
1/2v = 1/2(-1, 4)
= {1/2 × (-1), 1/2 × 4}
= (-1/2, 2)
Vector ½v starts at point (0, 0) and terminates at point (-1/2, 2).
Use maple to show the graph of vector ½v:
