Describe the mechanism in bacteria for repair of DNA containing mismatches, chemically modified bases, and double strand breaks.
Please CITE. Thank you.
There is various mechanism that repairs the DNA in the bacteria . Base excision repair is the excision of the inaccurately located base pair sequence . DNA glycocylase is the enzyme that recognize the damaged base . The endonuclease is responsible for the cleavage of the base from the phosphodiester backbone . DNA polymerase 1 then correct the DNA base . The mismatch repair mechanism recognize the nucleotide that are incorrectly placed in the DNA sequence . The wrongly placed nucleotide is demethylated that ' s why it is distinguished from rest of the DNA sequence . Mut S , Mut L and Mut H is the enzyme ia reaponsible for cleaving the unmethylated nucleotide that is opposite of the Nucleotide and the excision of the mismatched nucleotide by the exonuclease and it is sealed or joined with the help of molecular glue or the ligase . The double stranded DNA repair break has 2 mechanisms that is non - homologous and joining and through the homologous recombination enzyme . The non- homologous end joining results in the loss of some nucleotide where as the homologous recombination results in no nucleotide loss due to special nuclease binding mechanism .
