In: Statistics and Probability
There is a regression line Y = 10 + 11X. The SEE for the slope is 60. The sample size is 10. The standard deviation of Y is 100 and the standard deviation of X is 5. Do a hypothesis test. Calculate the t-statistic, state the critical value, and state what this means with regards to the relation between X and Y.
For slope ,
Hypothesis :
( association is 0 or no association)
Given Information,
Standard error estimate =SEE = 60
Coeffient value =11
n = 10
Test Statistics :
t = 0.183 ( rounded to three decimal place)
df = n-2 = 10-2 = 8
Here significance levelis not given so we assume 0.05 and check at 8 df with 0.05 level of significance in t table ,
Critical value = 2.306
decision :
Test statistics < critical value hence we fails to reject null. and we conclude that there is no relation exist between variable X and Y.
