1a- What does the red growth mean in the DNase est? How does it affect the interpretation of the results
1b- What is the function of DNase in bacteria that test DNase positive? What advantage can it provide to the pathogen?
Ans. 1a. Red growth mean in the DNase test and How does it affect the interpretation of the results -
Red growth in the DNase test means a negative reaction in the test medium of QC. it can be interpreted as cupules do not contains carbohydrates and hence no acid has been produced.
Ans. 1b. Function of DNase in bacteria that test DNase positive or Advantage it provides to the pathogen -
DNase test is helpful in determining the potential of an organism to hydrolyze DNA. DNase is an exoenzyme which cuts or cleaves DNA molecules. DNase test is useful in differentiating the organisms that can hydrolyze DNA with those that cannot. In the bacterias that tests positive for the particular test, DNase helps them to destroy or escape from the NETs i.e. neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs kills bacteria). bacterias that tests positive for DNase test are - Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, etc.
