If F= 80 N, determine the magnitude and coordinate direction angles of the ouple moment. The pipe assemblylies in the x-y plane.

Solutions

Expert Solution

example

If F = 200 , determine the magnitude and coordinate direction angles of the couple moment . The pipe assembly lies in the x-y plane

answer

I tried answering this previously and had calculated that the moment about the x-axis is 20 Nm, the moment about the y-axis is 100 Nm, and the moment about the z-axis is zero.

The resultant moment is (20^2 + 100^2)^0.5 = 101.98 Nm ~ 102 Nm.

The alpha angle is arctan(20/100) = 11.3 degrees

The beta angle is -arctan(100/20) = 101.3 degrees

The gamma angle is arctan(102/0) = 90 degrees
