  • Trade adjustment assistance (TAA) offers, training of jobs, allowances of relocation, income support and healthcare related benefits to workers in the U.S. who lost jobs due to the effects of globalization and increase in imports.
  • TAA is a program, run by "U.S. Department of Labor", unofficially commenced as a section of the "Trade Expansion Act" 1962. Officially in 1974, it began, with eminent amendments in coming years. The current program, refreshed in 2015, applicable till 2021.
  • For qualifying trade adjustment assistance, an affected worker must first file a petition illustrating that their job lost because of foreign trade.
  • The forms of such assistance programs are - "Integrated adjustment assistance program" and Wage insurance and subsidies for medical insurance program".
