Q2

(a) Suppose the fishery allowed free access. Would a fall in the price of fish generally result in a larger or smaller harvest?

(b) Suppose the fishery is managed at MSY, would a fall in the price of fish result in a larger or smaller harvest?

(c) Suppose the fishery is managed at MEY, would a fall in the price of fish result in a larger or smaller harvest?

(d) Explain how does the technological progress (that lowers the harvesting costs) influence the fishery under the three management regimes (i.e., open access, MSY and MEY)

Solutions

Expert Solution

a) If fisheries allowed free access model,it like as perfect competition market base.so it face the characteristics of that having lot of independent fish units selling competitive prices. if the fall in the price of fish generally result in a smaller harvest.and also availability become very large.

b) if the fishery managed at Maximum sustainable yield base, that lead to larger harvest when the price of fish become fall.because they are trying to better sustainability of this resourse that helpful for future also.

C) In maximum economic yield ,if the price of fish results fall then larger harvest for the economical benefit to whole of society.

d)if the technological progress is better then that will lead to lower the harvesting cost which influe the fishery under different management regimes in different way.
On open access it will lead to legatively and they can't much access this resourse very freely.
On the MSY it is very helpful for the sustainability and harvesting areas.
On the MEY which also most benefit and got a better economic benefit in the harvesting method.

Classical Mechanics problem: Suppose you are on a perfectly spherical planet and measure the free-fall acceleration to be g = g0 at the North Pole. (This planet is not necessarily Earth!) At the equator, you measure g = λg0 (with 0 ≤ λ ≤ 1). Find g(θ), the free-fall acceleration at colatitude θ as a function of θ.

Consider the cellular network market. What type of market would this fall under (price taker, price searcher, etc.)? Does this type of market necessarily mean that consumers are worse off (either pay more or are subject to low quality products)? Explain.

5. The price of trade Suppose that Portugal and Switzerland both produce fish and stained glass. Portugal's opportunity cost of producing a pane of stained glass is 5 pounds of fish while Switzerland's opportunity cost of producing a pane of stained glass is 10 pounds of fish. By comparing the opportunity cost of producing stained glass in the two countries, you can tell that ______ has a comparative advantage in the production of stained glass and ______ has a comparative...

Suppose that the market for good X is free and competitive, where the equilibrium price and quantity, are $30 per ton and 10 million tons per year, respectively. Suppose everyone had access to free CRISPR/CAS9 based gene editing to correct mutations at embryonic level. Now answer briefly the following questions 1) Is it true or false that you might not need an artificial repair template to correct the mutation? Explain the reason for your answer (no more than 1 brief sentence). 2) What could still be an ethical concern with gene editing on embryo? Limit your answer to 1 concern.

Suppose that under straight-line depreciation, a corporation would be allowed to depreciate a $10,000 asset over 4 years. Under accelerated depreciation, the corporation would be allowed to depreciate 75% of the asset's value immediately in the first year and the remaining 25% in the second year. Like the monopolist, you are a price-maker. But suppose you can practice access pricing. Demand is P=50-0.05Q and you can produce each unit of output for $30 a unit. That is, AC=MC=$30. To make the story right each potential customer has this demand of P=50-0.05Q. You need to draw a graph to answer some parts below. What first price or access price should you charge?
What is the 2ndprice or price per unit of output that you should charge? How...
