Briefly describe the steps through which Japan emerged as a major country in international science.
Japan is a fascinating country. From provision of vending machines containing clothes and shoes, to E-TAF automatic doors that open shifting accordingly to your body shape; the Japanese incorporate technology into their everyday lives.
During the past 20 years, Japan's role within the global network of public and private institutions that influence the creation and adoption of new technologies has changed. Along with dramatic structural change in the Japanese economy, this period has witnessed a transformation in Japanese technological capabilities. From its position in the 1960s as an economy that relied extensively on the transfer and modification of externally developed technologies, Japan has emerged as an economy with many firms that define the technological frontier in their industries.
STEPS THROUGH WHICH JAPAN EMERGED AS A MAJOR COUNTRY IN INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE :
Scientific and technological relations between the United States and Japan have been extensive for over 100 years.
1) The source of Japan’s technological advancement is undoubtedly from the youth of Japan. Statistics show that among other countries Japanese students performance levels rank second in mathematics and first in science. Japan spends around 3.59% of GDP in public spending on education
2) Japanese people are well in touch with technology, as 93.3% of the population uses it and they also created many outstanding invention.
3) In Japan, for every 100 people looking, there are 110 jobs on ever.so the number of unemployment is very less as compared to many other countrieside.
4) Japan has grown from modest economic means to become the second most powerful economic entity by initially acquiring Western technologies and then assimilating and improving them.
5) Japan was able to advance so quickly largely due to a centrally organized and efficient government that received vast amounts of support from foreign powers that aided their determined and efficient workforce in creating an advanced and productive industrial economy.
6) Japan exports many products ranging from electronics, cars and computers with its main and the most important trading partner being the USA which in turn imports more than a quarter of japans exported products.
7) Investment-led growth
Domestic investment in industry and infrastructure was the driving force behind growth in Japanese output. Both private and public sectors invested in infrastructure, national and local governments serving as coordinating agents for infrastructure build-up.
