Over the past week, I measured the resting heartrates of 24 women ages 30 -50 and got the following data measured in beats per minute:
61, 63, 64, 65, 65, 67, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 83, 84, 85, 86, 86, 89, 95
My claim is that the variance of heart rates for women ages 30 –50 is different than 12 beats per minute. Is there enough evidence to support my claim? Test at the 0.05 level of significance.
As we rejected the null hypothesis at 5% los, we conclude that the claim is true that the variance of heart rates for women ages 30 –50 is different than 12 beats per minute.
