what information do you look at to evaluate whether an effect obtained in an experiment is large enough to have practical /clinical significance? also give an example of interpreting practical or clinical significance.
We use hypothesis testing procedures to check whether an effect in an experiment is large enough to have practical significance or not. For example, a drug manufacturer claims that the drug manufactured by his company for blood pressure control is capable of dropping the blood pressure to 80 to 90, so we can take a random sample of patients who have high blood pressure problem and ask them to have this drug then note down their blood pressure. After that we will run a hypothesis test, if the p-value from the test is less than the level of significance 0.05, we will conclude that the drug has practical significance.
