  1. We’d like to compare 3 analytical methods A, B and C for measuring the same parameter to determine whether those 3 methods are equivalent or not.
    1. Perform three separate t tests to compare method A to method B, method A to method C, and method B to method C using results in the Table below. If using Minitab, make sure to check “Assume equal variances” box under “options” for each t-test.
    2. Perform ANOVA and compare the results with the t tests you did.
    3. Repeat the same t tests, but now use the ‘‘pooled’’ variance estimate (that is the MSE value you’ll get from the ANOVA calculations) for each t-test (in this case it’ll be easier to perform the tests manually – without Minitab). Explain why the results are different from those obtained earlier. When is it appropriate to perform separate t tests?
