Is it possible for a given human to have 5 alleles in the population?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer ) 5 alleles can be possible in the population level of human being while at individual level there will be only two alleles for given gene

Allele are alternative form of gene. Gene is a functional unit of genomic which expression lead to act as instructor for the vital functioning of cell via protein and RNA.Human is a diploid organism means it would have ploidy 2N. Ploidy is refer to set of chromosome present in an organism. For an individual as a human being for any gene it would have only 2 alleles for a particular gene while in the population there could be as many allele for the gene. Multiple allele trait is when there are more than two alleles that are present in a population.

One of the example is our allele blood group type. There are three allele present in the population that is i, iA, iB. Any individual could have two of them which can be same that is homozygous or may be different that is heterozygous .

Blood type allele present in any individual ( human)
A iAiA,or iiA
B iB iB or iiB
O ii
AB iA iB
