Two old science fiction movies, Godzilla (1998) and Aliens (1986) depict fictional large female carnivores. The Godzilla female lives off a large prey population of humans and fishes but has no assistance from others of her kind. In a few days, she produces hundreds of 7ft tall eggs, enough to fill Madison Square Gardens. The Alien female lives off a small prey population of a few dozen humans, is assisted by non-reproducing workers and produces hundreds of large eggs in a few weeks.
Comment on what is realistic and what is unrealistic about the life history traits and egg production abilities for each of these 'animals' and what makes them so. Include a hypothesize as to their life span expectations and their 'Darwinian fitness'.
(can you give a little more detail to help me understand this matter? Thank you.)
The realistic approach is that the Godzilla are very large in
structure . A seen in case of reptiles , female are bigger than the
males . The females requires large amount of food and nutrition for
feeding the the young ones and its energy requirement. The
unrealistic approach of this movie is that the large number of
offsprings produced from the Godzilla in a fort interval of time as
stated laying dozen of eggs in a period of weeks and months .
According to the Darwin theory , nature selects the best organisms
that have the maximum reproductive fitness that has the ability to
produce large number of individuals for the continuity of its
species. Therefore the individuals are selected by nature . Natural
selection plays an important role in the evolution . Natural
selection is the difference in the the ability to produce more
progeny based on the phenotype of the individual . An organism with
high reproductive capacity reproduce and form progeny to a limited
extent that is determined by the carrying capacity . The eggs laid
compete with one another for the survival and the phenotypically
fittest survive in the competition. The number of progeny is
produced in high number in short time . Chances of mutations are
also increased which leads to the evolution of the Godzilla to a
more fittest type . The large number of progeny produced compete
for the limited resources , and hence the population of the
Godzilla cannot expand at an exponential rate due to a particular
carrying capacity .
Have a beautiful day
