Wittig reaction:It is widely use in organic synthesis of alkenes .Ylides add to aldehydes and ketones to form C-C double bonds. The resulting alkenes can be “decorated” all kinds of ways.It is also refered as wittig alkenylation or wittig process.

Claisen condensation: Enolates react with esters to form C–C bonds.This reaction occure in presence of a strong base and resulting in a β-keto ester or a β-diketone
