During last tax season, Sandy called the Hypoville Department of Insurance to ask for some guidance on how to obtain an insurance producer's license. The DOI agent tells Sandy that all she would need to do is send a letter via certified mail to one of the DOI's locations, Sandy does this and begins selling life insurance policies. It turns out that the application process for an insurance producer's license is much more rigorous than just sending a letter to one of the DOI's offices. Eventually, the DOI finds out that Sandy has been selling policies without a license and threatens Sandy with fines. What should Sandy do?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:

The case is where sandy ask DOI The procedure to start the business of selling insurance policies .where they come to know a mail has to be sent to the DOI to begin selling the insurance policies . Sandy does the same and Start selling the Insurance policies without having a proper licence for the same . Whereas the process of obtaining proper licence was much more than simply sending letter .The sandy had to ensure the wait to be done till the licence of the same is granted . As it ignored this He ignored the Law and ignorance of law is no excuse .

The proceudre of obtaining licence will be completed once the approval through the certificate is arrived to sandy . But Sandy had ignored this law and started selling insurance policy without waiting for the licence of same is granted hence he will be punished as per the lw applicable and DOI thretens fine is justified now sandy should immediately stop selling the policies for further contravention of the law .
