If the pth term of an arithmetic progression is c and the qth term is d, what is the value of next rth term in terms of c and d?
Sol.
pth term, Tp = c and qth term, Tq = d
Common difference, c.d = Tq - Tp = d - c
Next term rth, Tr will be higher than Tq by common difference i.e. d - c
So,
Tr = Tq + (d-c) = d +(d-c) = 2d +c
Thus, next rth term Tr is 2d +c
Thus, next rth term Tr is 2d +c
