Solutions

Expert Solution

If the pth term of an arithmetic progression is c and the qth  term is d, what is the value of next rth term in terms of c and d?

Sol.

pth termTp = c and qth term, Tq = d

Common difference, c.d = Tq Tp = d - c

Next term rthTr will be higher than Tq by common difference i.e. - c

So,

Tr = Tq + (d-c) = d +(d-c) = 2d +c

Thus, next rth term Tr is 2d +c

Thus, next rth term Tis 2d +c
