Malaria is a protozoan disease caused by the organism plasmodium ( p. vivax, p. ovale, p. falciparum, p. malariae ) . Malaria is transmitted by the bite of plasmodium infected female anophelus mosquitoes.
The preventive measures to stop the spread of malaria includes
-> Use pesticides to control the growth of mosquitoes in reservoirs.
-> Avoid over crowding
-> Water should be purified before use
-> Reduce or destroy potential reservoirs to prevent the control of mosquitoes
-> Wear clothes when go out to reduce the exposure of skin
-> Always sleep under permethrin treated mosquito nets to prevent mosquito bite.
-> DEET ( N,N Diethyl-meta-toluamide) is one of the effective mosquito repellents. Use DEET 10-50% for applying skin, clothes, tents etc to prevent mosquito bite.
-> Spray aerosolized insecticides in the rooms at the evening to prevent the entry of mosquitoes.
