Energy:-

Guatemala comes as the second largest Central American power market, with a total generating capacity of 4.2GW. Guatemala total energy generation capacity in 2016 was 10.9TWh, of which 41% came from fossil-based generation, 24% from large hydro, and 35% was from renewables.Guatemala shows high dependency on firewood, especially for residential demand.Though firewood represents the main source of energy for household/residential across the country (app. 63%).The country has an enormous hydrocarbon potentia  Approximately 65% of the country's territory is formed of sediments, which indicates a high probability of finding oil, almost anywhere in the country. the Guatemalan government had to issue more power supply contracts with private companies, which allowed the growth of the installed thermal generation capacity Thus being nearly 400% during the period 1993-2002, with other facilities being built as well to add more generation capacity to the country's scheme during the same period Two geothermal-powered plants in particular were installed: Calderas (5MW) in 1998, and Zunil (24MW) in 1999

Telecommunication:-

Growth in Guatemala’s telecom sector has been affected by the continuing global economic downturn, which has reduced spending power in both the residential and corporate markets. The fixed-line market shrank for the first time in 2009, a trend which has been maintained since. The broadband market has continued to grow but at a slower rate while the mobile telephony market has shown remarkably strong growth in recent years, largely stimulated by consumers finding an alternative to fixed-line communications.Among the poorer countries in Latin America, Guatemala’s telecom infrastructure has suffered from years of underinvestment from state and provincial governments. Network upgrades, in both the fixed-line and mobile sector, have largely been undertaken by the private sector.

Transportation:-

The World Bank’s Index 2012-2018, customs efficiency and road quality, ranks Mexico in the 53th place while Guatemala is at the bottom of the group, in the 115th place. The main form of public transportation is by bus. There are an abundance of camionetas buses, which are affectionately known as “chicken buses” by travelers.

Plane:-Guatemala doesn’t have the best domestic airline service. In fact, the only domestic flight service currently scheduled connects Guatemala City and Flores. Ongoing improvements are being made to many smaller airports across Guatemala,.

Buses:-Buses are the main method of transportation for most Guatemalans, and many travelers choose to save money by taking buses. Often referred to as “chicken buses”.They can be crowded and you might have to stand for the entire bus ride.

Taxi:-Taxis are readily available throughout Guatemala. In larger towns cabs can be hailed in upscale, touristy areas; in small towns taxis tend to hang around the central square.

Utilities:-

water:-The drinking water supply and sanitation sector in Guatemala is characterized by low and inconsistent service coverage, especially in rural areas; unclear allocation of management responsibilities; and little or no regulation and monitoring of service provision. In 2015. Guatemala, 93% of the total population had access to "improved" water.

Electricity:-Guatemala, March 2020: The price of electricity is 0.244 U.S. Dollar per kWh for households and 0.160 U.S. Dollar for businesses which includes all components of the electricity bill such as the cost of power, distribution and taxes.
