Expert Solution

Sodium Heparin is used as an anticoagulant. So, research with blood would need this chemical.

Research projects based on analysis of urea, electrolytes, lithium in blood plasma will need sodium heparin.

People use this to measure urea and electrolytes in blood plasma. DNA is also isolated from the blood stored in a sodium heparin coated vessel.

People use it to store the blood for long term use. It prevents blood from coagulating. They collect the blood sample in sodium heparin coated vessels and gently mix the blood with the heparin.

Note: If one needs to perform PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), he should avoid using sodium heparin. It is an inhibitor of PCR
