Expert Solution

Solution:-

The proximo distal growth means development from the centre of the body to outwards.

We can classify the growth of a human body in three stages

  1. Prenatal
  2. Infancy
  3. Childhood

Prenatal

  • The period from conception to birth
  • Brain/spinal cord and organ system in trunk develops before the arms and legs
  • Arms develop before hands
  • Hands and feet develop before finger and toes
  • Finger and toe muscles will develop at the end.

Infancy

  • Infants can control their shoulders before they have control over arms or individual fingers
  • At three months, infants can grasp objects and make fists, but lack the ability to point at objects or not able to reach for objects

Childhood

  • The Childs main movements are by elbows and wrists
  • At this time the child will develop most of the fine motor skills.
