How many moles of potassium chloride must be added to the solution to completely precipitate 1.18g dissolved Ag?
Reaction between KCl and Ag take place as given below
Ag(aq) + KCl(aq) AgCl(s) + K(aq)
According to reaction 1 mole of Ag react with 1 mole of KCl to form AgCl precipitate
first calculate mole of Ag
molar mass of Ag = 107.8683 gm / mole then 1.18 gm of Ag = 1.18 / 107.8683 = 0.0109392658 mole of Ag
According to reaction 1 mole of Ag react with 1 mole of KCl to form AgCl precipitate then to precipitate 0.0109392658 mole of Ag required KCl = 0.0109392658 mole
